Walkers taking advantage of Boundless Breaks at Whitemead Forest Park were treated to a surprise when they took a walk led by a Forest of Dean and Wye Valley Tour Guide. There was a luxurious display of bluebells in unexpected places.
The walk covered an area through the Parkhill enclosure by Parkend, Whitecroft, Brockhollands, and Bream near the spoil heap of the old Princess Royal Colliery.
Not only did they enjoy magnificent views of the woods, they were treated to a rooting and tooting steam train that went by.
The bluebell season is extensive as, no sooner does one patch die down, then another one springs up in another location!
