Birthday treat – a personal guided tour

Posted on August 13, 2011 by Comments are off

Dilys, John, Janet and Paul are four friends who know how to have a good time. They take turns organising surprise trips for one another’s birthdays.

Paul’s August birthday was celebrated with a surprise trip to the Forest of Dean. This included a personal guided walking tour of the River Wye at Symonds Yat. They crossed the river in the hand ferry by the Saracen’s Head Inn and ambled leisurely towards Biblin’s Bridge, all the while quizzing the chatty guide. By the time they crossed the bridge and wandered back along the disused railway track, they had covered many centuries, industries, customs and characters of the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley.

Don’t we all wish we had friends like that!
